#CloserToKindness #KietPoeEhTree
I launched my #CloserToKindness project in October of 2016. This project explores two of my passions: Photography and Writing.
I challenged myself to take a picture of anything from my day, bend the perspective, and then write a poem of my thoughts.
Here are some of those pictures and their corresponding poem. With Love :-)

"Mommy MOMMY, Look I'm touching the Sun"
Young One, you Are the Sun And Your Reach, reaches Far And Beyond Even to this Passerby. Is that Enough? You have no idea But wait, Do I? I just Hope you Learn before You Undo it onto your Grown Body That can leave Scars |
Let us, rest into our journeys
Stop to take moments and Ask for no apologies We owe it to ourselves to live In flaw, in perfection For blissful seconds acknowledge That life rests in centers And doesn't push extremes It is Present |
1 of 5
What may seem so far Is what brings us together Because regardless of our differences I wouldn't have known where To put down the stones Of my road If you all hadn't showed me Your own, in your own ways |
I stared at the lines
And painted others How would others see this geometry? Maybe all that matters Are the lines we see together? But then a picture would be worth 999 words I could get lost We could get lost |
What I have found so far
We all feel the same When we hear a melody We all walk at the same pace When we move to a beat We are universal We all speak this language |
7.5 billion and Counting
Lives intertwining The Likelihood of Interaction Seems higher than The Likelihood of Loneliness When you Least Expect You are a piece of Art A Masterpiece For Someone Else 7.5 billion and Counting Chances, Possibilities To Make Art Of Your Own |
the time we Spend
the time we Waste the time we Make the time we Take the time we Fake the time we Find the time we Give the time we Live |
Who Knew
A crack from two worlds Collide Only to reveal that through the lines Another World exists |
Crazy
Thoughts & ideas feel burnt to ashes Crazy The brain tightening with self-destruction Crazy Skin and bones a mirror can't shake At least the river of blood flows with stillness We can skip rocks and watch the ripples go Crazy |
If my mind is blocked by walls...
I might just break down the shapes And realize it was my fear the whole time Shapes you can find in my body Weaving between organs and veins Between mountains and rivers Oh the view... And my feet on the peaks Oh the view... And my feet swishing against streams And that's what I have to do To live through. For walls can look like bricks Or walls can look like fear |
The mistake we teach and make
Everyday Is to reach for something that Isn't there Rather than hold and nurture What is... Under our breath |
The heart rush
Of a Stampede Flushing through my body I am not of this Flock I feel uglier than Before If I care about the Thought The Others silently scream And the distance from one Footstep To Another I Forget my Own Pace |
Did I look in the Mirror Today?
This Morning? Before I stepped Out? Did I notice the specks of Dust Everywhere? Big. Small. Round. Narrow. Hair. Skin. Bone. Blood. Did I see Color? Creed. Practice. Spirit. Soul. I saw Myself With Lines and Creases. With Bumps. With Bruises. With Tears. And I saw You. Did You look in the Mirror Today? This Morning? Because I wanted to Thank You |
What is wrapped around your
Waist I could Rip with my Teeth And Sink my Fingers Around What was There I Wish you could Move my Hands And Use Them But You want my Control. My Confidence. I'm not sure Who Does? |
Daggers
For stabbing Or for insults And if the possessor Holds Power, Do they acknowledge The receiving pain And can you be Careful With Daggers |
It was Dark...
Before I realized The world around me Had Expectation. Had Premise. Had Mis-guidance. Had Selfishness. Had Projection. Had Pressure. Had Frustration. Had Anger Had Anxiety. Had Depression. And Now I realized My world around me With the Grip of a Pen Wringing Out the Ink My Hands Shake... Off the Words To Soothe and Discern the Power of No to You Yes to Me And the Smell of the Pen and Paper Gives me the Breath of Life And Shapes my Self - My Self It Was dark |
Call me Dirty
Call me a Jerk. But With my Tongue I've Spoken my Peace With my Pupils I've seen your Perspective With my Hands I've tried to be Gentle With my Heart I've been Sincere My Understanding My Power Do you Understand yours...? I just Hope We can Talk With Humor, Humility, and Humbleness Sincerely yours - Another Human |
They say the Size of your own Fist
Matches the Size of your own Heart If that's the Case, I won't Clench I won't squeeze with Fear And I will Unfold my Fingers And Appreciate when You do the same Following the Petals of your Blossomed Hand And Appreciate when You do the same Learn to Let Go And Appreciate when You do the same And I Promise I will still Appreciate When You Don't do the same |
