So some of you may not know this, but I love dance. I think it is such a beautiful way to express yourself and I love seeing that in so many forms. Hip-Hop dance is probably my weapon of choice, when it comes to dance. I've always loved the stories the movement tells, the way it is so grounded into the Earth, and just how expressive it is. So sometimes I'll get lost into a wormhole of YouTube videos where I watch videos from my favorite artists. Here are some of my favorite dance artists: Keone and Mari Madrid, Phillip Chbeeb, Megan Batoon, Dytto, Di "Moon" Zhang, Jaja Vankova, Maryss from Paris, the Kinjaz, and many many more. I have to give a shout out to Eddy Lee for showing me this video: And if some of you didn't realize after watching that, Keone Madrid has joined the Kinjaz! That's crazy to me! That's like Durant joining the Warriors. Too much fire in one room! HAHA! But yes this video made me yell at my computer screen (which is a good thing)! Here's my favorite video that Keone did (Unfortunately, the original video was deleted but here's my favorite part): So all in all, I miss dancing and want to get on their level. HAHA! Maybe my new friendship with Eddy Lee can be a starting point... HUGE SHOUT OUT TO YOU EDDY! Thanks for fueling me with your inspiration and positivity!
Alright thanks for stopping by friends! Hope you're creating and arting! With Peace, Kiet Well well well... It's been quite some time since I've touched this blog and I apologize for that! Thank you for sticking with me and also thank you to anyone who is new. Welcome to my passions! Okay! So Netflix sort of yells at me from time to time. When you fire it up, there always seems to be a new series, movie, Netflix Original, or Comedy Special they want you to catch, and they're loud about it! It's always a preview and a pretty graphic. The first thing you see. "Hey you! Watch this! Watch this! This special is like a 90% based on the algorithm we came up with that calculates your watch history. And we think you'd totally watch this. Right?! You watch Breaking Bad so you MUST like Better Call Saul, Right?! Check it out! Check it out! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!" Okay Netflix JEEZE! I swear, social media and everything on the internet can be creepy sometimes. Wow I'm getting super side-tracked! WHOOPS! So this came up the other night: If you haven't heard of Hasan Minhaj, you should! You may recognize him from the Daily Show. He was one of the correspondents and is quite funny. He's also become pretty viral on the internets from speaking at the Press Dinners when President Obama was still in office. Check him out, do some research, he is great.
If anything, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS SPECIAL! What are you doing reading this blog post?! GO WATCH IT NOW! OH MY GOSH! In my humble opinion, Hasan has really created something special. I can imagine some folks turned off by his abrasive approach to some of the intro material, but stick with it! He truly takes you on an entire journey and keeps you interested every inch of the way. I love how much he catches you off guard in this piece with pulling you through humor and then smacking you in the heart. I shared the exact reactions and emotions the audience had when he would tell you stories about his family, his friends, and his experiences with romance. I identify with so much of what he talks about as an Asian-American myself. He explains privilege and racial divide in such a poised way, that you can't help but gasp at some of the experiences he has lived through. I love any piece of art that takes you for an unexpected ride and leaves you questioning everything. So go! You went this far to read, now go watch! I'd love to hear what you have to say and hope that we can have a conversation on it! Shoot me a message, leave a comment, or don't say anything (that's cool too. Not really I wanna hear from you lovelies!). I give it 5 thumbs up!!! With Peace, Kiet |
