Has anyone else heard this album yet?!?! What?! Kiet you like Paramore? Yes, I like Paramore. Jerks! Listen UP!
Paramore's latest album After Laughter is a real change in sound for this wonderful band. I've always really enjoyed Paramore and their sound. I think the lyrics and insanely catchy tunes have always grabbed me. Hayley William's voice is so silky and really nice on the ears. Particularly, I like the divergence in style on this album. I think they've added some electronic sounds to their roster and it's created some really funky tunes. I also enjoy what feels like a contradiction between the relationship from music to lyrics. Most of the songs on this album sound happy and poppy but, lyrically, touch on topics that aren't so much "happy". This song on the top "Fake Happy" is one of my favorite records from the album. It starts with easing us through a folky stripped down version of the song's mantra, then brings us into a different world with a synth string theme that settles the song throughout. When that bass and drum kick in, it hits in such a sexy way! And of course, with the combination of Hayley's melodic and rhythmic singing it stays in such a great pocket that keeps any listener bobbing their head. These lyrics and melodies have got to be some of Hayley's best singing and best writing. It just bounces off the music so nicely. I LOVE IT! It's funky, it's fresh, it's vibin', it's so so good! And there's something in the way she delivers "Hey!" as she sings into the pre-chorus ("If I smile with my teeth... bet you believe me!"). Listen for that "Hey!", it is so, UGH, good! Anyways! Check out this song and album friends and tell me what you think! Would love to hear what you have to say :) and hope you have fun listening to this album as much as I did. Be Peace, Kiet |
