Homecoming: More than your friendly neighbor *SPOILER*

Last Friday, Chris and I went to go see Spiderman: Homecoming. I didn't really know what to expect and I do rely on Rotten-Tomato quite a bit when it comes to watching movies. They gave it a high score of 93% and I was very excited to watch this movie. And let me tell you... It did not disappoint! For the sake of this Blog, I'm not going to go into super detail and summarize the whole movie for you... But I will tell you the aspects of the movie I really enjoyed and why it truly deserves the score it received by Rotten Tomato. So here we go!

Tom Holland as Spidey is wonderful! Finally, an actor who LOOKS like a teenager, who makes mistakes like a teenager, has emotions like a teenager, and ACTS like a teenager. He had so many great moments, but there are a few that really stood out for me. The moment when he finds out who Liz Allen's father is (I think EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the theater gasped). That entire scene and Holland's performance was brilliant. His facial expressions and how he couldn't take his eyes off of him seemed so incredibly human. I've never felt so tense during a car ride in my life! Tom's emotion was perfect during the comic book cut-out scene where Spidey gets pummeled by skyscrapers and has to lift himself out of the rubble. The struggle and the emotions he expressed when he decided to push himself showed his growth as Peter the teenager and Spider-Man the superhero. I loved his performance and I think he's the best Spider-Man yet!!! I'm really excited to see his growth with the character and also the characters around him.

The diversity was probably my favorite aspect of the movie. It truly represented the different cultures of New York City and enhanced the story-telling. Jacob Batalon as Ned was so charming and his chemistry with Holland seemed inseparable. The students at the school all had their individual personalities that shined through and I loved their lines of playful banter to each other. Even having the Principal be tied to the Captain America universe, beautiful!

One of the best feelings you can have, as an actor/creative person, is to leave something you've just watched/witnessed/listened to/tasted/experienced and wanting to be a part of it in some way or another. I would love to work on a project where the people around you seem so genuinely invested in their work. I love passionate people and watching art like this gets me so pumped up! I hope you get to experience something that makes you feel this way in your life! To me, that's how life should always play out. Love you all! Thanks for checking me out on my blog!

Be Peace,
Kiet
